Historic Preservation Award for Exton Project

Built in 1877, Fairview is the former home of Charles Thomas, a descendent of the original Thomas family that acquired the land upon which West Whiteland is located. Over the years the mansion had been extensively renovated for a variety of multi-resident uses. Downingtown resident Pete Staz, an urban developer and partner in Core Development, acquired the estate and turned his attention to the rehabilitation of the stone mansion at 225 N. Whitford Road. While maintaining as many of the original features as possible, Mr. Staz rehabilitated the old mansion into a number of upscale residential apartment units, revitalizing the property and putting it on a path to many more years of gracious living accommodations. The Township greatly appreciates the outstanding example of historic rehabilitation performed by Mr. Staz.
